This one comes straight out of the day job. In restructuring you spend your time inside businesses that have already failed, and you see what is still in there: a customer list, a working supply chain, a brand people recognise, a piece of software that cost six figures to build.
Almost all of it gets written off. The administration closes, the assets are sold for scrap value or not at all, and something that took five years to build disappears in a fortnight.
Contact Ventures takes those remains and restructures them into new companies. Founders submit what is left of a dead business and hold equity in whatever comes next.
The second half is fundraising: capital raising and investor matching for founders who are still going.
